Being that I tend to read more news than anything, I found a few stories for you today. In addition to being Friday the 13th, it’s also a full moon. In honor of what is quite possibly the strangest day possible, here are a few stories (though not all of them are “strange”). That being said, AWAY WE GO!

Man who BIT GIRLFRIEND’S FACE convicted of assault
I know, we live in a country where everyone has the right to a trial and the right to an attorney (thank you Miranda), but I can’t help but wonder just what the defense was in this case? In case you’re wondering too, they claimed that the victim was not “seriously disfigured”, to which the prosecutor replied “I will agree he is not guilty when he can put this back” and then held up a jar containing the flesh this <s>sicko</s> person BIT OFF OF HER FACE. I agree also with the prosecution that this <s>wack-job</s> person should not get a break simply because the victim had a talented plastic surgeon who was able to re-build her face. Therefore, may this (now) inmate ROT IN PRISON as a precursor to ROTTING IN HELL!

Porn homework cancelled in Ohio
It seems that no matter what, some people just don’t get it. A teacher in Brooklyn, OH recently assigned a group of freshmen (14 and 15 year olds) to “research internet pornography” and also to write about any experience they had with it. Well, the parents wouldn’t have this, and many called the school. So far, no mention has been made as to any punishment, but I doubt from the story if there will be any.

Things that make you go WHAT?
I don’t even know what to say here, except that maybe PUBLIC IMPALING of rapists, terrorists and drug dealers COULD reduce the number of those people in society, or at least teach them that their current “life style” is not a good move.

Well, at least she was “original”
A Phoenix woman was recently fined a little over $300 for driving in the HOV lane without another person in the car. When she was stopped and the officer asked her how many people were in the car, she said two, then pointed to her belly to indicate her unborn child. Well, while I do agree that the “fetus” IS a human being and not just a “lump of cells” that BECOMES a human being, I have to side with the court on this one. The last line of the story, which states that if this were allowed, cops would not only have to have cuffs, guns, and other tools, but also would have to carry pregnancy tests, and I have to agree we (as a society) DO NOT want to go there. But, I have a friend of mine who is a local Constable, and when he stops someone for speeding he tells them if they can give him an excuse he has NEVER heard, he’ll let them off with a warning. He’s heard them all, but the best one he told me about (which RUINED all Star Wars excuses from now on) was a teenager who simply replied “you don’t need to see my license, these aren’t the droids you’re looking for”, and he WAS carring several small robots for a class project. After my friend stopped laughing, he did let the kid go.

I am sorry to say this took place in my part of Texas
It seems that a local Police Chief has something against people of asian descent, and when a Vietnamese man applied for a job as a Farmer’s Branch Police Officer, the Chief (allegedly) said that “as long as I’m police chief, we won’t have any gooks in this department.” I’m sorry, but even IF this man was traumatized during the Vietnam War, this is NOT the way one should act in ANY JOB! I personally hope to see this man FIRED and not able to get a job ANYWHERE as a police officer (or with a PD at all) ever again!

Mexico DEMANDS the U.S. allow more immigration
Well, if this is the case, I say the U.S. DEMAND that Mexico begin helping us to make sure the immigration is LEGAL and not any way else. I also DEMAND that Mexico begin taking care of it’s own issues, like poverty, drugs, other crime, and so on…..

I guess I just won’t understand it, but it seems that when ANY COUNTRY ON EARTH (except the U.S.) takes measures to protect their borders, they are simply “protecting their home land”, but when America wants to protect our borders, we are “turning our backs” on “the poor and downtrodden” who simply want to “work and earn a living, doing jobs Americans won’t do”. I’ve gotten into this debate on campus quite a few times, and my answer is most often, that if the jobs “Americans won’t do” paid an decent wage (and Ogre, I’m not advocating minimum wage raises) and offered benefits and advancement opportunities, maybe Americans WOULD take the jobs. But, when you can hire 3 or 4 illegal aliens for the same rate as ONE citizen or legal resident, why would you?
With all the kerfuffal (thanks to <a href="http://lettersfromnyc.mu.nu/" target"_blank">Letters from NYC for the new word) over President Bush’s program which uses wire taps on calls to and from KNOWN TERRORISTS or TERRORIST SYMPATHIZERS, I just thought I’d throw out a few links about the DNC’s “golden boy”.
Link Number 1

CAN IT BE? Is the enemy starting to realize that we (the U.S.) WILL NOT REST until we have his (and his boss’s) head ON A PLATTER? I’m sorry, but I just don’t see how it took THIS STINKING LONG for Zarqawi to realize HE IS GOING TO LOSE, but the real question is, will he realize it before or after he begins ROTTING IN THE GRAVE?
Cross-Posted at Smoke Signals Blog

Amen son, just a little more caution next time, OK?

Who wants to bet the ACLU gets involved in this one
It seems that there are still some good and decent people in the world. You see, a woman was recently being chased by a would be robber who had already pounced on her and punched her repeatedly trying to steal her purse. Well, he chased his would be victim past the wrong shop, because five men from a local auto shop started pursuing him, “placed him” on the ground, and restrained him until police arrived. How much would you like to bet that the aclu(natics) sue the men who SAVED THAT WOMAN from her assailant, because they “violated his rights” or “prevented him from doing what he does for a living” (VIOLENTLY ROBBING WOMEN)?

I can’t even begin to understand this one
GPS tracking chips in handguns? WHO ARE THE IDIOTS WHO THOUGHT OF THIS? Oh, that’s right, elected officials.

Mother mad at police
You see, when Plymouth PD responded to an alarm at a local liquor store, they found a stone had bounced off the shatter proof glass, and saw evidence that a car left at high speed, and began to pursue the vehicle. Eventually they were able to box the car in, when it RAMMED one of the cruisers and then accelerated toward other officers. Those officers, who FEARED FOR THEIR LIFE (due to the car SPEEDING TOWARD THEM), opened fire, killing 16 year old Anthony McGrath. Mrs. McGrath insists that her son was “given a death penalty with out a trial” and has demanded answers and wants to know who “murdered” her son. Well, “mom”, I hate to say this but I see two VERY GOOD possible answers, your son did it by THREATENING THE LIVES OF POLICE OFFICERS, and/or you are either partly or wholely responsible for the untimely death of your son, due to your failure to teach him that ROBBING A LIQUOR STORE, SPEEDING FROM THE CRIME SCENE, and VEHICULAR ASSAULT ON A PEACE OFFICER are not good things to do. UH-OH, I just made a “moral judgement” didn’t I, because I said what the CHILD did was WRONG! I am sorry for Anthony’s death, and I pray for his entire family, but had he not been trying to rob that store, had he not sped from the crime scene, and had he not sped up and headed toward Police Officers, he would (most likely) still be alive today.

H/T to Wizbang for the above news items
This is quite possible the ONLY time I partially agree with the aclu
You see, it is now ILLEGAL to “annoy” somoene via the web without disclosing your true identity. Which means that ALL BLOGGERS and other people who write or comment on the web, MUST disclose their REAL NAMES if they “annoy” someone. This is GOING TOO FAR! I have a pretty high tolerance for nuissances, but not everyone does, so basically the whole country is SCREWED OVER by this law (at least bloggers and those who comment on blogs or in web-forums, or in chat rooms).

H/T to Ogre for the last story

Well, that’s it from me for now, and remember, if you can’t be good, be good at it, and don’t get caught.
Cross-Posted at Smoke Signals Blog

From the book of Luke, verses 1 through 16

1In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3And everyone went to his own town to register.

4So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
The Shepherds and the Angels
8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14″Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

15When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

So often today, we are caught up in all the commercial aspects of the season, buying gifts, making sure that we have enough lights on the house, putting up the tree, cooking, and so on. Yet, few people ever stop to really think about why we even have Christmas, and I know it’s not the literal date on which Jesus was born. There are those who have never heard about HIM and need to. People today are living in the dark, yet we, as Christians, have such a wonderful light we could give them. You see, about 2000 years ago, a tiny little boy was born in a barn and laid in a manger. His mother was a virgin and in those times for an unwed girl to be pregnant meant she would be cast out of society, yet her betrothed, Joseph, still married her and raised her son as his own. That boy grew and eventually ministered more in just 3 years than most of us can in a lifetime, before dying for the sins of all mankind, and then rising from the grave 3 days later. You see, when he died on the cross, he became a sacrifice for all of our sins, and then when he rose on the 3rd day, he provided for us that death is not the end. You see, HE wants you to have a relationship with him, and he wants to forgive EVERY SIN you’ve ever comitted, all you need to do is ask and he will.

So, tomorrow when you are with your family and the food is being served, and presents are passed out, don’t forget why we are really celebrating, the REAL gift was given on that night in the barn and laid in a manger.

Merry Christmas and GOD BLESS!

Froggy has pointed out that President Bush has just gone too far this time. It seems that U.S. Agents are now using GEIGER COUNTERS in the vicinity of some mosques to check for radiation. Now, according to Froggy, this is under the guise of stopping the detonation of a nuclear weapon, but we all know this is just another day at the part for Chimpy Bush-hitler-haliburton as he invades the “right” of TERRORISTS to have NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

Now, for those who DON’T know it, that was SARCASM! You see, in time of war, the President has a little more power than usual. I’m not saying that I am happy or agree with giving up ANY of the rights named in the Constitution, but guess what, YOU DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO POSSESS A NUCLEAR BOMB (unless you’re in the military)!

Read the story here

As we prepare for all the fun that comes each year at Christmas, America’s military Men and Women are far from home in many cases, and just as we would, they DO miss their families and friends. Now, I know that it isn’t “popular” to be for the GWOT and all, but these men and women are doing what MUST be done to keep our country safe, and I really don’t care where you stand on the war issue, please DO NOT take out your animosity for the mission on those who have taken it up. These are the finest that America has to offer, and if they don’t take this cause up now, then Americans WILL see another 9/11, and it WILL be worse. To those who are fighting right now for my family, my friends, and for me, I can NEVER adequetly put into words my feelings, but I will say simply THANK YOU, God Bless You, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

‘Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,
In a one-bedroom house made of plaster and stone.
I had come down the chimney, with presents to give
and to see just who in this home did live.

As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see,
no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand.
On the wall hung pictures of a far distant land.

With medals and badges, awards of all kind,
a sobering thought soon came to my mind.
For this house was different, unlike any I’d seen.
This was the home of a U.S. Marine.

I’d heard stories about them, I had to see more,
so I walked down the hall and pushed open the door.
And there he lay sleeping, silent, alone,
Curled up on the floor in his one-bedroom home.

He seemed so gentle, his face so serene,
Not how I pictured a U.S. Marine.
Was this the hero, of whom I’d just read?
Curled up in his poncho, a floor for his bed?

His head was clean-shaven, his weathered face tan.
I soon understood, this was more than a man.
For I realized the families that I saw that night,
owed their lives to these men, who were willing to fight.

Soon around the Nation, the children would play,
And grown-ups would celebrate on a bright Christmas day.
They all enjoyed freedom, each month and all year,
because of Marines like this one lying here.

I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone,
on a cold Christmas Eve, in a land far from home.
Just the very thought brought a tear to my eye.
I dropped to my knees and I started to cry.

He must have awoken, for I heard a rough voice,
“Santa, don’t cry, this life is my choice
I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more.
My life is my God, my country, my Corps.”

With that he rolled over, drifted off into sleep,
I couldn’t control it, I continued to weep.

I watched him for hours, so silent and still.
I noticed he shivered from the cold night’s chill.
So I took off my jacket, the one made of red,
and covered this Marine from his toes to his head.
Then I put on his T-shirt of scarlet and gold,
with an eagle, globe and anchor emblazoned so bold.
And although it barely fit me, I began to swell with pride,
and for one shining moment, I was Marine Corps deep inside.

I didn’t want to leave him so quiet in the night,
this guardian of honor so willing to fight.
But half asleep he rolled over, and in a voice clean and pure,
said “Carry on, Santa, it’s Christmas Day, all secure.”
One look at my watch and I knew he was right,
Merry Christmas my friend, Semper Fi and goodnight.

It seems that some JERK in Londonberry decided that he just could not tolerate a nativity scene, and decided to DESTROY it! From the article, the statues (wise men, Mary, Joseph, an Angel, and others) were either beheaded, dismembered, or worse, and left lying in the snow. The home owner who had the scene in HIS OWN YARD said the scene was only two years old, and that baby Jesus was spared because the family did not put him out until Christmas Day, which they still plan to do. My question is this, why is it that people will defend the “right to choose” to <s>MURDER A CHILD</s> have an abortion, or defend the “rights” of nambla members to SEXUALLY ASSAULT young boys, but when it comes to a right which ACTUALLY APPEARS in the U.S. Constitution (religious freedom), they JUST CANNOT STAND for someone to show their beliefs? Well, I don’t have to hope that this SCUMBAG will burn in HELL for all eternity, because unless he makes a DRASTIC change in his life, he will.
Original Story - H/T to Wizbang
